Can I use a concession ticket on public transport?

A concession ticket lets you travel on public transport for a lower price than normal. In Victoria, concession tickets for public transport cost about half the price of a normal ticket.

To be allowed to buy a concession ticket, one of these things needs to be true about you:

If you are under 16, you don’t need a concession card to get a concession ticket. If you are 16 or over, you will need a concession card. If you don’t have another concession card but you study full time, you need to get a Victorian Public Transport Student Concession Card. You can get this card from Public Transport Victoria. Your school, TAFE or university card is not enough on its own.

If you are 16 or over, you need to carry your concession card when you use a concession ticket on public transport. If you are not carrying your concession card, you can’t travel using a concession ticket. If you do, you are breaking the law, and you might get in trouble.
